We are excited to announce that this year the program will again be a Community Summer Reading Program. Adults can participate, too! Anyone age 2 and older can participate in the Summer Reading Program. Join as a whole family! Readers will create an online log to track the amount of time they spend reading, earning incentives all summer long as their minutes add up. Prizes this summer will include books, tote bags, coupons to local restaurants and more. Let’s see if we can surpass last year’s total of 1,194,713 minutes!

Children’s Program
Kids who join the summer reading program will keep track of the minutes they read and enter their weekly totals into an online log. Kids who complete at least 60 minutes during one week will be eligible to collect that week’s prize. Weekly prizes will be chosen from an assortment including books, tote bags and coupons to local restaurants, and may be picked up any time throughout the program. At the end of the summer top readers will receive a Barnes & Noble gift card.

Teen Program
Teens participating in the summer reading program will log the minutes they spend reading throughout the summer. Teens who read and log at least 60 minutes each week will be eligible to collect that week’s prize. Weekly prizes will include books, tote bags, coupons to local restaurants, and scratch tickets. At the end of the summer there will be door prize raffles. Raffle tickets will be earned by logging minutes and completing challenges.

Adult Program
Adults participating in the summer reading program will log the minutes they spend reading throughout the summer. Incentives such as tote bags and local restaurant coupons will be awarded throughout the program. At the end of the summer, the top readers will receive a door prize.

The Ashland Summer Reading Program, funded by the Friends of the Library, has been a complete success in large part due to the support and encouragement of so many local merchants and residents. Please consider helping the Friends by sending in a monetary donation. Your donation will help purchase extra copies of required reading titles for kids in Grades 3-12, provide incentive prizes for all ages and fund programming throughout the summer. You can also support the program by donating children’s and teen books (in like-new condition, please) to be used as weekly prizes, or by volunteering your time in the Children’s Room, helping us register the kids and passing out weekly prizes.
